Scale Drawing Process:
- Measure lengths and widths carefully with a ruler or tape measure. Record measurements in an organized
table. - Calculate the scale drawing lengths, widths, and areas using what was learned in previous lessons.
- Calculate the actual areas.
- Begin by drawing the perimeter, windows, and doorways.
- Continue to draw the pieces of furniture making note of placement of objects (distance from nearest wall).
- Check for reasonableness of measurements and calculations.
Practice at Home
Measure your bedroom or home living room. Record the measurements on paper and convert each measurement to scale. Use a ruler with paper or graph paper to make a scaled drawing of the room. Add scaled drawings of the furniture in the room. Don’t forget to turn your work in to Mr. Clarkson with your name clearly on each paper.
